The RS485 Anywhere is skentel’s latest innovation, bringing satellite connectivity to one of the world’s most widely used industrial interfaces. Designed for use with RS485 sensors, it enables data to be transmitted directly over EchoStar Mobile’s LoRa®-enabled satellite IoT network.
By integrating EchoStar Mobile’s EM2050 module, the RS485 Anywhere provides dual-mode connectivity, using terrestrial networks where available and switching seamlessly to satellite when needed. This ensures reliable data flow from even the most remote sites, whether on land or at sea.
The RS485 Anywhere is powered by a 16 Ah battery and supports two MPPT solar inputs, making long-term, off-grid deployments possible. It can also supply a 24Vdc, 300 mA switched output to power connected industrial sensors. A configurable timer allows this auxiliary power to be activated only when needed, conserving energy and extending battery life.
The device can communicate with up to five RS485 devices at once, supporting programmable sequences and PLC-style control. Combined with compact form factor, long battery life and easy configuration via USB or downlink, the RS485 Anywhere offers a practical, scalable solution for remote monitoring.
The RS485 Anywhere supports data collection from industrial sensors that rely on RS485 communications. Applications include:
