Innovating at Altitude: Looking Back at the Highlights from IoT Solutions World Congress 2025

Telemaco speaking IOT solutions world congress

The world of IoT doesn’t stand still, and neither do we! This year’s IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC) in Barcelona brought together the best in tech, innovation and connectivity, and EchoStar Mobile was right at the heart of it.

In addition to showcasing our own LoRa®-enabled satellite connectivity solutions as part of the LoRa Alliance’s “Building Massive IoT with LoRaWAN®” exhibition, we had several of our key partners drawing attention with their real-world solutions and a keynote by our VP that looked ahead at what’s next for IoT.

It was a week packed with energy, ideas, and positive progress. Below, we take a look back at the highlights.

A Big Stage for Massive IoT

At this year’s event, we collaborated with the LoRa Alliance®, exhibiting as part of their “Building Massive IoT with LoRaWAN®” zone. The buzz around this event area was palpable. With a full day of talks dedicated to the topic and nineteen LoRa Alliance® members showcasing their solutions, it was a powerful demonstration of LoRaWAN® in action and how it’s delivering real impact for people, the planet, and business.

As we seek to close the connectivity gap, satellite is playing a more and more crucial role in this arena, and offerings like our satellite-powered LoRaWAN® solutions are gaining increasing interest. From tracking assets across remote regions or collecting data from smart meters off the grid to keeping critical infrastructure monitored without fibre or 4G, satellite extends the coverage, bringing the reach and resilience that other networks can’t.

Seeing Is Believing: Partner Demos in Action

One of the best things about events like IOTSWC is seeing the tech in action. And this year, we were proud to support some brilliant use cases from our partner ecosystem:

Linxens Satellite Sticker

Think ultra-thin, battery-less, and ready for high-volume tracking. The innovation behind Linxens’ Satellite Sticker demonstrates how even the most compact form factors can go global with satellite connectivity, opening up new possibilities in logistics, asset tracking, healthcare, and more.

MountAIn’s IBEX “Digital Watchman”

MountAIn’s IBEX solution impressed with its ability to monitor, analyse and manage remote sites autonomously, combining edge AI with real-time satellite alerts. Its potential is huge, offering sectors like environmental monitoring, critical infrastructure, energy, defence and more a smart way to protect assets without relying on traditional comms.

A Collaborative Ecosystem in Action

Alongside Linxens and MountAIn, it was fantastic to see CyRIC, Murata, Semtech, and Swisscom also demonstrating the power of satellite-enabled LoRaWAN® across a wide range of real-world applications.

Each partner brought a fresh perspective on how scalable, off-grid connectivity can unlock new possibilities, showing just how much progression is happening across the ecosystem.

“IoT from Space”: A Look Ahead with Telemaco Melia

Our Vice President and General Manager, Telemaco Melia, took to the stage at IOTSWC to share his insights on what’s next for satellite-powered IoT and why it matters.

His message was clear: IoT is a global business that requires global coverage. And that’s not always possible with terrestrial networks alone. By combining different satellite orbits and traditional networks, we can boost reach, reliability and performance and open the door to more remote, low-power IoT use cases than ever before.

Telemaco also spoke about the role of the LoRa Alliance® in accelerating satellite-based IoT. Its open, flexible standard is helping drive adoption, and with momentum building, we’re only just getting started.

Another exciting development on the horizon? The upcoming release of EchoStar Mobile’s S-band LoRaWAN® Satellite Relay (EM-SR), which enables legacy terrestrial sensors to connect via satellite. That means more devices, more data, and more value, even in places networks don’t typically reach.

A key takeaway from Telemaco’s presentation: Satellite is no longer just a fallback option. It’s a core enabler of massive IoT and key to expanding connectivity beyond terrestrial limits.

An Award-Winning Moment

We were also thrilled to see our partner, MountAIn, win “AI Innovator of the Year” at the show for its IBEX solution!

The award recognised the ingenuity behind its IBEX “digital watchman”. As a compact, autonomous, ultra-low-power device, it uses edge AI to deliver real-time insights for remote asset monitoring and protection without the need for an external power source or terrestrial networks.

We’re proud to collaborate with MountAIn and provide the satellite IoT connectivity for the IBEX solution, ensuring reliable, real-time data transmission from any environment.

What This All Tells Us

IOTSWC 2025 made one thing clear: real-world, scalable satellite IoT is here.

The vision of the LoRa Alliance®, the partner demos and keynote insights all confirmed that it’s no longer just a concept but a technology that’s live, deployed, and already delivering value.
